Mr. Randall (Randy) Steven Tyson, 61, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at his home in Tehachapi, California.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Tyson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Covid protocol will be followed.
Mr. Tyson was born April 9, 1960 in Tift County to Jimmy Randall and Wilma McBrayer Tyson. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Buford and Evelyn Cravey Tyson as well as William Lester and Ruth Stephens McBrayer.
In addition to his parents Mr. Tyson is survived by one sister, Marla (Steve) Moore of Tifton and one brother, Eric (Lori) Tyson of Commerce; three nieces, Hope (Jacob) Fortner, Heather (Joey) Biechy, Erica Tyson; two nephews, Ryan (Julee Beth) Moore, Caleb (Haley) Tyson; great nieces, Maggie Sue Moore, Caroline Fortner; and great nephews, Fox Fortner, Dallas Tyson.
Mr. Tyson was member of the 1978 Class of Tift County High School and proud member of the TCHS Marching Band. He graduated from Abraham Baldwin College in 1979 with an Associate of Science degree. He enlisted in the US Navy when he was nineteen, serving as Nuclear Power Specialist on the submarines USS Woodrow Wilson and USS Hawkbill. He also assisted in construction of the USS Annapolis with the honor of being present for her commissioning. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New York and Master of Science from the Colorado School of Mines. He has been employed as Wind Engineer by Terra-Gen in Tehachapi, California since 2008.
