Mrs. Rebecca Chapman Willis, 101, a beloved member of the Tifton community, passed away on May 2, 2024, at Fellowship Home at Meriwether in Milledgeville, Georgia. She was born on April 27, 1923, in Worth County, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, May 6, 2024 in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. John McMillan, Jr., officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home before the service.
Todd Van Meter, Kris Van Meter, Vince Willis, Jed Tillery, Alan Cravey, Dennis Sims and Terry Simmons will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Willis was a woman of many talents and interests. Known for her creativity, she excelled in various hobbies including needlepoint work, ceramics, flower gardening, painting, and seamstress skills. Her passion for these activities shone through in all aspects of her life.
In her earlier years, Mrs. Willis graduated from Doerun High School and went on to become a proud member of Bethel Baptist Church of Omega and Crossroads Baptist Church of Eatonton, Georgia. Her dedication to her faith was unwavering.
Mrs. Willis will be dearly missed by her surviving family, including her daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Thomas Rozier of Eatonton, Georgia; her grandchildren, Lisa (Todd) Van Meter of Gainesville, Ga. and Lani (Rob) Lewis of Dana Point, CA.; great grandchildren, Kristopher (Stephanie) Van Meter of Atlanta, Morgan (Colin) Lumb of Luxembourg, Luxembourg, Shelby Lewis and Sierra Lewis of Dana Point, CA., and great great grandson, Willis Van Meter of Atlanta.
Mrs. Willis was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Palmer Willis, who passed away on August 31, 2000; her father W. F. Chapman; and her mother Bertie Ruth Parker Chapman, her siblings, Clifford Chestnut, Norris Chapman, Robert Chapman, Loren Chapman, Josie Sheffield, Lydia Sheffield and infant twin sister; her grandchild, Kristi Rozier.
Mrs. Willis will be remembered for her kind heart, creative spirit, and unwavering love for her family. May she rest in peace knowing that she touched the lives of many with her warmth.
