Jimmie F. Hinson

April 30, 1930 — February 19, 2026

Lenox, Georgia

Born on April 30, 1930, in Omega, Georgia, Pastor Jimmie Hinson was the beloved son of the late Jimmie Mitchell Hinson and Viola Shivers Hinson. He was raised on the family farm alongside his three younger siblings, where he learned the values of hard work, faith, and perseverance that shaped his life. On December 18, 1949, he married his childhood sweetheart, Bertha Mae Johnson, beginning a devoted marriage that spanned 63 years.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Lenox Christian Fellowship Church with Rev. Sonny Hickox, Pastor Charlene Griffin and Rev. Tommy Stone officiating. Interment will follow at Lenox City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, February 20, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Family Life Center of Lenox Christian Fellowship Church.

Austin Harnage, Andrew Harnage, Justin Stone, Zackery Stone, Thomas Sumner and Colby Griffin will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Lenox Christian Fellowship Church.

During the 1970s, Pastor Hinson owned and operated South Georgia Oil Company, supplying bulk oil to farmers across South GA and North FL, and serving the community through his gas station. He was also a farmer and found great joy in raising cattle for many years.

Affectionately known as “Brother Jimmie,” he was a founding member of Lenox Christian Fellowship and faithfully pastored the church for 49 years. Alongside his late wife, Sister Bertha, he inspired and encouraged countless lives through their ministry and unwavering faith. Brother Jimmie was still preaching at 95. He dearly loved the Lord and his church and was known as a man of integrity who earned the respect of his community.

Brother Jimmie will also be remembered for his quick wit, dry sense of humor, and his love of conversation—especially when it came to God and politics. Many mornings found him at his favorite breakfast spots, Shoney’s and later at Cracker Barrel, where he was well-known and loved by the staff. Independent by nature, he remained active, driving and going about his days on his own terms.

Pastor Hinson was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Johnson Hinson; three infant children; his three younger siblings and their spouses, Mary and Rudolph Sumner, Bobby and Carolyn Hinson, and Libby and Alton Stone, all of Omega; and by brothers- and sisters-in-law Lee and Helen Johnson, Ray Dene Johnson of Lenox, and Betty and G.W. Proctor of Sebring, Florida.

He is survived by two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Jeanette Johnson of Lenox, and Patsy and Davis Strickland of Arcadia, Florida; several nieces and nephews and their children; and his devoted ministry associate, Charlene Griffin. Brother Jimmie (Uncle Jimmie to some) will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lenox Christian Fellowship Church, PO Box 184, Lenox, Ga. 31637.
