Rev. Roy C. Taylor, 78, of Pitts, Georgia passed away on Wenesday, December 1, 2021 at his home.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 5, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Norman Taylor and Rev. Tom Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Ellaville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the funeral home.
Rev. Taylor was born December 19, 1942 in Coffee County to the late Norman Taylor and Verdie Austin Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Owens and his brothers, Troy Taylor and Wendell Taylor. Rev. Taylor was a member of Seville Baptist Church in Seville, Georgia and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was ordained into the ministry in 1969. He was stern, hardworking and bold about his Christian beliefs. Rev. Taylor received a doctorate in ministry from Newburgh Theological Seminary at the age of 68. He always helped others without seeking recognition, including the collection and distribution of charitable goods to various communites.
Rev. Taylor is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Peggy Joyce Williams Taylor of Pitts; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Shain Fricke of Warner Robins, Sondra and Johnny Chancellor of Roberta and Cyndi and Scott Albritton of Ellaville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Jeanette Taylor of Oglethorpe and Norman and Melissa Taylor of Cordele. Rev. Taylor had numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
