Mr. Roger Smith, 79, of Tifton formerly of Pensacola, Florida passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. in Waterloo Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Jeff Pangle officiating. The family will receive family and friends Saturday, January 2, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Albritton Funeral Directors. Covid restrictions to be followed, strict social distancing and masks will be required.
Matthew Spray, Stuart Spray, Thomas Pangle, Jeffrey Pangle, Micah Kuhn and Brett Milde will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Smith was born November 24, 1941 in Montgomery, Alabama to the late Carl Dewey Smith and Inez Blasingame Smith. He lived there until 1960 then moved to Pensacola, Florida until 2015, then he moved to Tifton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Carl Dewey Smith, Jr. Mr. Smith served with the United States National Guard Army and was a retired carpenter with the City of Pensacola. He was a carpenter for many years in the Pensacola, Florida area building many homes. He loved to fish and hunt. “His greatest loves were His Savior Jesus Christ, His wife, time spent with his children, grandchildren, playing with his great grandchildren, and being with his church family.” Mr. Smith especially enjoyed drinking coffee with his buddies at Burger King, Hog-N-Bones and Northside Café.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Faye Stacey Smith of Tifton, to whom he was married for fifty-one years; four daughters and sons-in-law, Cyndi and Dr. Jeff Pangle of Waterloo, Renee and Jim Demastus of Harvest, Alabama, Kathi Bullard and Karen Fleming of Pensacola, Florida; two sons, Roger Lynn Smith and Scott Neal Smith of Pensacola, Florida; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers, Larry Smith, David Smith and Shannon Smith of Pensacola, Florida; two sisters, Pam Vining of Pensacola, Florida and Ada Joyce Sheldt of Mobile, Alabama.
Flowers accepted or donations may be made to Waterloo Baptist Church Building Fund, 124 Waterloo Church Lane, Chula, Ga. 31733.
