Mr. Russell “Russ” Milton Thomson, 81, of Tifton passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 4:00 P.M. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with military honors rendered. His son-in-law, Mr. Robert Creasman will be speaking and Mrs. Cyndi Goodman closing in prayer. The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Thomson was born November 7, 1940, in Highland Park, Michigan to the late Milton Lincoln Thomson and Ester Myrle Pyle Thomson. He was a graduate of Monroe High School in Monroe, Michigan. After high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He was an account manager for Kraft Foods for thirty years and after his retirement he was a tour guide with Georgia Museum of Agriculture for five plus years. He was a strong, Christian man who loved teaching Sunday school in his younger years at Northside Baptist Church. His family remembers him as a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grand father. He loved to grill BBQ chicken and his children called him a BBQ chicken Grill Master. He will be greatly missed and so will his chicken.
Mr. Thomson is survived by his wife Patricia “Pat” Ann Fox Thomson of Tifton; four daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Robert Creasman of Savannah, Barbara and Tony Lawson of Chula, Debra and Bryce Abbott of Tifton and Cyndi and D.J. Goodman of Franklin, TN; his grandchildren, Lauren & Josh Pope, Jeffrey & Ashley Robbins, Claire Lawson, Samuel Lawson, Sarah Lawson, Josh & Anna Abbott, Alex Abbott, Zach & Lucy Abbott, Blaze Abbott, Bella Goodman and Hayden Goodman and his great grandchildren. Ellis Abbott, Parker Pope, Hudson Pope, Jeffrey Robbins, and Waylon Robbins.
