Sarah Elizabeth Hand

Sarah Elizabeth Hand, 92, born on August 2, 1933, in Irwin County, Georgia, passed away at her residence in Tifton, Georgia, on August 25, 2025. She will be remembered fondly for her nurturing spirit and abundant generosity.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Tift Memorial Gardens with Rev. Steve Hand officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Hand grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

A proud graduate of Irwin County High School, Sarah began her career working for a telephone company after graduation. However, her greatest joy came from her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother.

In her later years, she cherished every moment spent with her family, including her sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Lucy Hand and Randy and Nancy Hand; her daughter, Sharon Jeter; her grandchildren, Justin and Sara Hand, Michael and Jaimee Hand, Chance and Ashlea Hand, Tyler Hand, and Blake and Cassey Hand; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Lane Hand, Connor Hand, Lillea Hand, Emberlea Hand, Levi Hand, Cheyenne Hand, and Della Hand.

In addition to her family life, Sarah was deeply involved in her faith as a long-standing member of Vanceville Congregational Christian Church, where she held the honor of being the oldest living member. For fifty years, she played the piano, sharing her musical talent and devotion with her congregation.

Known for her culinary skills, Sarah had a special way of showing love through food. She was a wonderful cook, always preparing meals for those in need, especially for those who were unwell. Her love for nature was evident in her beautiful yard, filled with flowers that brought joy to all who visited. Sarah also found tranquility in fishing, often enjoying the fruits of her labor with cooking and sharing her catch.

Sarah is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas "Tom" Jefferson Hand; her father, Elbert Kilgore; her mother, Beulah Sheley Kilgore; her son-in-law, Jerry Jeter; and her sister, Lou Bell Carr.
