Mrs. Stene Harrison Hawkins, 93, of Omega, Georgia passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Albritton Funeral Directors with Dr. Howard Burke officiating. Burial will follow at Omega City Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends after the service at the graveside.
Dustin Hawkins, Eddie Dunn, James Tompkins, Carroll Coarsey, Kim Turner, Marty Bennett, Carey Hawkins and Tony Strength will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Hawkins was born May 16, 1929 in Omega, Georgia to the late Oren Harrison and Pearl Sewell Harrison. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Milton “Tubby” Clarence Hawkins to whom she was married seventy-two years at the time of his death, February 24, 2020; one son, Kenneth “Kenny” Wayne Hawkins; one brother, Casey Harrison; and three sisters, Mary Gay, Orene Ellis, and Lavada Jones, her great grandchild, Emi Wilkerson and her fur baby “Precious”.
Mrs. Hawkins was a homemaker who loved gardening and bird watching. She had many bird houses and bird feeders. She won Garden spot of the month and was a member of the Excelsior Garden Club. She also loved taking care of family as well as others by cooking. She was a former member of Omega Baptist Church and a current member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hawkins is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Clay Sanders of Omega; one son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Nancy Hawkins of Omega; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Marchant Hawkins, and three sisters-in-law, Dorothy McDonald, June Hawkins and Beverly Harrison; brother-in-law, Fred Gay; Grandchildren, Jason Hawkins, Michelle Wilkerson, Haley Hawkins, Dustin Hawkins, Carey Hawkins, Leah Slimp(Jason), Christi Bryant, John Cason (Aileen), Darin Sanders (Brooke) and Dustin Sanders (Margaret); and great grandchildren, Rylee Bryant, Bentley Bryant, Cason Johnston, Hagan and Hudson Slimp, Chasity, Neelia, Jada, Toni and Arla Cason, Tristyn Webb, Josh and Beyla Wilkerson, Ty Sanders, Pate Sanders, and many nieces and nephews. Also, special friends, Suzanne Dunn and LeAnne McAlpin. The family would like to give special thanks to Louis Sweet for his many years of service for working in her gardens and yards.
