Winna Sue Moore of Alapaha, Georgia, passed away peacefully at Legacy Village in Tifton on Saturday, April 4, 2026. She is preceded in death by her husband of seventy-one years, Stanley Moore.
Sue is survived by two daughters; Angela Rouse of Honoraville,, Alabama, and Mary Chambers (Harold) of Tifton, Georgia, and one son, Tim (Winnie) Moore of Nashville, Georgia; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Ms Moore is also preceded in death by her son-in-law Richard Rouse; one grandson, Brian Rouse, and one granddaughter, Rebecca Rouse.
Born in 1934 in rural Prentiss County, Mississippi, Ms. Moore was the daughter of Robert Kelly and Stella Avo Tennison, both whom preceded her in death, along with three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her two sisters Yvonne Moates and Anita White
Ms. Moore was a devoted Christian and mother. When she wasn’t busy helping run the family lumber business, she could be found assisting with activities in church or spending time with her family. “Mom”, as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, was forever curious, often taking her grandchildren on various adventures down to the river looking for bear tracks, walking along old rail-beds looking for rocks for projects, or trying out new recipes in the kitchen. She was active and loved seeing the beauty in life. Ms. Moore always had a collection of beautiful bird feeders and potted plants around her home to take in the natural beauty. Her curiosity led her to artistry, where she would spend her time painting, capturing photos, sewing, quilting, crocheting, basket-weaving, writing, and working on her genealogy- skills she passed along to many of her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her love and laughter.
Her funeral will be 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 7th at Albritton Funeral Directors with visitation taking place before the service at the funeral home from 2:00 P.M. to 2:45 P.M. A private interment will be held at Fletcher Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Raintree Village Children’s Home at 3757 Johnson Road Valdosta, Georgia 31601
