Theresa "Recie" Ann Guess

Theresa "Recie" Ann Daniels Guess, a beloved member of the Tifton community, passed away peacefully at her residence on October 16, 2023.

A graveside service will be held at 5:30 P.M. on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Mr. Russell Guess officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the graveside.

John Alec McKinnon, Eric Webb, Rusty Harris, Ryan Harris, John Henry Guess and Bo Guess will serve as pallbearers.

She was born on October 2, 1952, in Tift County to Zona Bell Selph and the late Alfred Kemp Daniels. Along with her Father, she was also preceded in death by her step dad, Edward Selph. Theresa graduated from Tift County High School in 1970 and went on to have a successful career as a recruiter at the American Red Cross for twenty-five years.
During her time at the American Red Cross, Theresa dedicated herself to recruiting individuals for blood drives. She found immense joy and satisfaction in being around people. Her compassionate nature and commitment to helping others left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.

Theresa was known for her infectious smile and quirky personality. She embraced life with enthusiasm and was always up for an adventure. Despite her dislike for social media, she cherished human connection and loved being surrounded by loved ones.

Outside of work, Theresa had a variety of interests that brought her great pleasure. She enjoyed sewing, traveling to new destinations, shopping, and exploring culinary delights in the kitchen. Her love for pets and family was unwavering and brought immeasurable joy to her life.

Theresa is survived by her loving husband, Gary (Girt) Guess of Tifton; her beloved daughter, Darby Hester Anderson of Tifton; her mother, Zona Bell Selph; as well as her sisters, Barbara Herndon of Sylvester and June Daniels McKinnon of Tifton, along with Gary’s family, his sisters, Sherry McMurrian (Dean), Gina Spradley (Darrell), his brothers, Russell Guess (Kim) and Jim Bo Guess (Annette) and numerous nieces and nephews.
