Tommie Adkins Reeves, affectionately known as "Butch," passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, Georgia. Born on November 20, 1944, in Senioa, Georgia, he lived a life marked by dedication, skill, and a generous spirit.
As per his wishes, he will be cremated and his ashes will be interred at Lakeside Memory Gardens at a later date.
A proud veteran of The United States Navy, Butch served his country with honor and distinction. Following his military service, he employed his remarkable hands and mind at Golden Gem Growers and Silver Springs Citrus as a juicer, contributing to the local economy and community.
Butch was a man of many talents and passions. He was an accomplished woodworker and cabinet maker, as well as a skilled mechanic and handyman who could build or fix nearly anything. Those who knew him recall his willingness to lend a hand; he never hesitated to help others solve problems, embodying a spirit of generosity and neighborliness. He truly enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, finding joy in craftsmanship and the satisfaction of completed work.
He is survived by his devoted son, Tommie Adkins Reeves, Jr. along with his wife Amanda; daughters Kimberly and her husband Jon Whitley, Vickie McLain and her husband Steven, and Jean O'Shaughnessy and her husband John. His family circle also includes his stepchildren Jim Maguffey, Sandra Maguffey, and Donna Bell; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who carry forward his legacy; and his sisters Beverly Covington, Helen Green, and Wanda Futch.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tommie Adkins Reeves, Sr.; mother, Blanche Elizabeth Hunnicutt Reeves; son, Jeffrey Allen; brothers Walter George Reeves and Richard Lake Reeves; wife, Judy Allen; his partner, Sue Davidson; and step-daughter, Rebekah Corman.
Butch's life was characterized by quiet strength, generosity, and an unwavering dedication to family and friends. His skills and kindness left a lasting impact on those around him, and his memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate to know him.
