Vachel David Tyson, Jr., affectionately known as David, passed away on June 3, 2025, at his residence in Tifton, Georgia. Born on July 16, 1949, in Tifton, David dedicated his life to his family, community, and career.
David enjoyed a fruitful career at the Coastal Plain Experiment Station, where he served as an Ag. research farm manager for forty years, after having graduated from ABAC with an Associate Degree in Ag Engineering.
He proudly served in the Georgia Army National Guard, demonstrating his dedication to his country and community. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, David was well-regarded for his caring nature and strong family values. He is survived by his beloved wife, Robin Williamson Tyson; his children, Neil Tyson of Alapaha and Brock and Allison Tyson of Sandersville; and his cherished grandchildren, Brayden Tyson, Rylee Tyson, and Jayda Harrell.
David’s personality was marked by a sense of joy and an eagerness to engage fully in life. He cherished family vacations, relishing the time spent together with his children and grandchildren. and committed himself to his hobbies, which included working with his tractor and golfing with his friends and his sons. He found great pleasure in watching his grandchildren play sports, fishing at the flats, and experiencing the thrill of long-distance horse trail riding with his wife. He was a people person who never met a stranger and enjoyed having conservations with others.
A devoted member of Mt. Calvary Methodist Church, David's faith was an integral part of his life, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, commitment, and service.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vachel David Tyson, Sr.; his mother, Frances Claire McLendon Tyson; and his baby sister, Mary Alice Tyson. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
A graveside funeral service to honor David's life will take place on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton, Georgia with Mr. Clay Miller officiating. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family at the graveside following the service.
