Velva Faye Bledsoe

Velva Faye Carter Bledsoe, 97, of Tifton passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in First Assembly of God Church of Tifton with Rev. John Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday evening June 8th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Deacons and Elders of First Assembly of God Church, Michael Black, Dave Geary, Gilbert Hill, Mark Hupp, Jack Hullett, John Tanner and Danny Tyson (who are members of the Deacon & Elders Boards of Tifton First Assembly of God).

Mrs. Bledsoe was born March 2, 1921 in Wetumpka, Oklahoma to the late Marion Monroe Carter and Tish Stein Carter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dawson Price Bledsoe and four sisters. Mrs. Bledsoe was a member of First Assembly of God Church of Tifton and she was a homemaker. She had lived in Tifton for forty-four years. Born in Oklahoma, she had lived in Arkansas for fifteen years, then moved to Clewiston, Florida for twenty years. She met her husband there and they moved to Tifton. She was an excellent seamstress and loved to make clothes for dolls. Mrs. Bledsoe loved to sing and was active in her church. She also loved to fish.

Mrs. Bledsoe is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Margrette and Ed LaPointe of Lakeland, Florida; two sisters, Laverne Miller of Lakeland, Florida and Shirley Register of Okeechobee, Florida; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
