Mrs. Virginia “Gini” Kirby Fowler, 83, of Hanceville, Alabama formerly of Tifton and Lake City, South Carolina passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Hanceville Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Kent Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive family and friends Friday, February 26, 2021 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Fowler was born January 1, 1938 in Cades, South Carolina to the late Edison D. Kirby and Irene Kirby. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Cosper Fowler who died June 19, 2014 and was a veteran serving in Korea and Vietnam with United States Air Force as Lt. Colonel. Mrs. Fowler was a member of Fourth Street Baptist Church of Tifton and was retired from Office Administration State of South Carolina and Booth Boyle Company Sumter, South Carolina. Mrs. Fowler graduated from Olanta High School, Olanta, South Carolina in 1956. She married the late Kenneth C. Fowler in 1977, and they lived together in several locations, before settling in Tifton in 1999 for their remaining retirement years.
Virginia was an active member of Fourth Street Baptist Church of Tifton, where she played the piano until declining health prevented her from attending services. She loved the years of traveling after she and her late husband retired. They took numerous trips around the United States in their Airstream RV.
Mrs. Fowler is survived by five children, Anthony (Tony) D. and Susan C. Cole of Crane Hill, Al.; Michael (Mike) L. Cole of Conway, SC.; Donna C. Cole of Myrtle Beach, SC.; Patrick and Carolyn Fowler of Anderson, SC., and Greg Fowler of Elgin, SC. She also is survived by four grandchildren, Kris James, Brandon Cole, Dustin Cole and Justin Cole.
