Roger “Wayne” Dunn, Sr., a beloved figure in the community and a lifelong agriculture farmer, passed away peacefully at his residence in Omega, Georgia, on September 17, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on September 30, 1947, in Tifton, Georgia,
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Maple Street Methodist Church of Omega with Rev. Chris House officiating. Eulogy delivered by Mrs. Patricia Dunn. Interment will follow at Omega Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors.
Trey Dunn, Thomas Sumner, Roggie Dunn, Zach Dunn, Dennis House, Jr., and Michael House will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis House, Sr., Bill Turnmire, Ricky Turnmire, Justin Partain, Ted Dukes, Johnnie Dunn, Larry Dunn, Lamar Burkett, Johnnie Lindsey, Russ Ponder, Brad Dunn and Ken Dunn.
Wayne was proud of his educational journey, having graduated from Tift County High School and furthering his studies at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC). Wayne dedicated his life to the land, making significant contributions to the agricultural landscape of the region.
His passion for farming was not just a career; it was a lifelong vocation that he cherished deeply. Alongside his work on the farm, Wayne nurtured a love for hunting, fishing, and collecting Indian artifacts. He had a storytelling spirit, captivating everyone with tales from his rich experiences.
He was a devoted family man, deeply loved by his wife, Patricia Ponder Dunn, with whom he shared fifty-seven years of marriage. Wayne’s pride and joy were his children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. He is survived by his son, Roger "Roggie" Wayne Dunn, Jr., and his daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Thomas Sumner. He was a cherished grandfather to Roger Wayne Dunn, III "Trey" and his wife Lyndi Denham Dunn; Kirkland Olivia Sumner; and Spencer Elise Sumner. Additionally, he delighted in his role as a great-grandfather to Callie Ann Dunn. He is also survived by his brother, Randy Dunn.
Wayne's community involvement extended to his membership at Maple Street Methodist Church in Omega, where he was well-respected and admired.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Thomas Dunn; his mother, Evelyn Baker Dunn; and his brother, Kenny Dunn. Their memories remain cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved Wayne.
Wayne Dunn leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to influence his family and friends for generations to come.
