William Lloyd Goforth Jr. passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, in Dublin, Georgia, at the age of 85. Born June 9, 1941, in Albany, Georgia, William lived a long and fulfilling life that left an indelible mark on those who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Albritton Funeral Directors with Mr. Wes Shannon officiating where military honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 A. M. before the service at the funeral home. A private interment will take place at Mt. Paron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Nicholas Weil, Shawn Weil, Lee Pilkenton, Brent Pilkenton, Brandon Goforth and Alex Goforth will serve as pallbearers.
William worked for Reeves Construction Company for thirty plus years as superintendent. He was a veteran of The United States Air Force, working as radio mechanic for five years. He was an avid freshwater fisherman, hardworking, straight forward man who was committed to his family and job.
William, known affectionately to family and friends as a steadfast and compassionate presence, was the beloved son of the late William Lloyd Goforth, Sr. and Margaret Francis Powell Goforth. He grew up in a close-knit family, cherishing the bonds that helped shape his generous spirit.
He is survived by a devoted and loving family. His wife, Beverly Sue Watson Goforth, his sons, William Lloyd Goforth III., and James Steven Goforth, his daughters, Betty Sue Coressel and husband James, Cynthia Maria Pilkenton, and Theressa Redmond and husband John, his sisters Linda Huggins and Faye Canter and his brother, Jack Goforth. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and numerous great grand grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Lloyd Goforth Sr., his mother, Margaret Francis Powell Goforth; and his brother, Bobby Goforth. Their influence and love remained with him throughout his lifetime.
Family and a strong sense of purpose defined William’s days. He forged lasting connections with those around him and approached each chapter in his life with humility and honor. William’s character, resilience, and devotion to loved ones served as a guiding example for all who knew him.
