Mr. William Lamar NeSmith, 78 of Savannah, formerly of Chula, Albany and Largo, FL. died Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Spanish Oaks Hospice in Savannah.
A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in Salem Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Salem Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Albritton Funeral Directors before the service at 2:00 P.M. in Salem Memorial Gardens.
Mr. NeSmith was born on July 30, 1942 to the late Reverend Amos F. NeSmith and Elizabeth Marie Butler NeSmith in Thomasville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters. Lamar was a member of the “Old Friends"group who played for local nursing homes, local community events and every Tuesday night at the Gartman cabin. The group nicknamed Lamar “Chet” because of his talent with his guitar. He was known to be able to fix anything from cars to appliances. He was retired from Procter and Gamble in Albany as a mechanical engineer.
He is survived by his wife Sarah Joyce McCrary NeSmith, two daughters and sons-in-laws, Debra Elaine and Darren Koutelas of Double Springs, AL, and Elizabeth and John MacGrogan of Hilton Head, SC., his grandchildren, Aaron Keith Wescott, Alexander Scott MacGrogan and Tyler James MacGrogan.
Albritton Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
