William G. Waldrop passed away of natural causes on December 1, 2025, while scouting hunting land with his brother. His life will be remembered as one devoted to his family and enjoyment of land, both in farming and hunting.
He believed in hard work and making time for the things he enjoyed. William was born on January 19, 1953, to Jim Tom and Louise Lockhart Waldrop. His parents purchased the family farm in Eldorado around his first birthday, and he lived his life on the farm, first with his parents and then with a family of his own. He often shared stories with his family of his childhood farming duties and hunting adventures. He remembered with great fondness any memory that included his brothers, Tommy and Ricky.
On March 17, 1973 he married the love of his life, Sherry Lee Hutchinson. They built a life together on the Waldrop Homestead. They welcomed Cynthia Lee (Shane), William Grant (Kimberly), and Matthew Quentin (Becky) into their home. Each of their children always knew the love of a caring and supportive father. Whether it was a cheerleading competition, wrestling, or band competition, William always showed up to support his three children. Later in life as grandchildren were born, William loved spending time with Jessica (Alan), Gage, Bryce, Taylor, Riley, Jayde, Will, James and Omie Leigh. He was excited to welcome his first great-grandchild in May 2026. He was always available to babysit the newest kids, but loved when they were old enough to learn to fish and hunt. He kept a pond and hunting options available for his family to enjoy with him.
William’s life was spent caring for animals and enjoying the outdoors. He always enjoyed working on nutrition and genetics for the swine production operation he ran with his brothers. Hunting was William’s obsession. He was always ready to enjoy the outdoors and a conversation could always be started with him by asking about his latest hunt.
William is preceded in death by his parents, Jim Tom and Louise Lockhart Waldrop, in-laws, Cecil and Omie Lee Hutchinson, and brother, Tommy Waldrop. He is survived by his wife, children, and nine grandchildren. His brother: Ricky (Vickie) Waldrop. His aunts: Robbie Tippens, Gay Lang, Charlotte Lockhart and Martha Taylor. Nieces: JoAnna (Will) Graves, Shawna Hutchinson, Heather (Richard) Irvin, and Erica (Daniel) Miller. Nephews: Jim (Julia) Waldrop, Tom (Heather) Waldrop. He was a member of Eldorado Baptist Church and attended Eastside Baptist Church or any church where Matthew was preaching.
