William "Bill" Spencer Sweeney, Jr.

Mr. William “Bill” Spencer Sweeney, Jr., 72, of Tifton passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

A Memorial service will be held Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 6:00 PM in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Mark Holloway, Langston Cleveland and Casey Spearman officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 5:45 PM at the funeral home before the service.

Mr. Sweeney was born September 28, 1947 in Cromona, Kentucky to the late William Spencer Sweeney, Sr., and Leota Childers Sweeney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.  Mr. Sweeney was a member of the Kingdom Center of South Georgia and a veteran of the United States Army. He was self-employed and owner of Bill’s Trailer Repair for more than forty years. He had lived in Tifton since 1984. Mr. Sweeney loved his family, his Lord and his church family. He lived to be a witness for God. He loved motorcycles and was an excellent mechanic. Bill enjoyed eating, especially at Buckner’s Restaurant, and one of his favorite things was a good steak. He loved people and was always ready to help others. Mr. Sweeney was particularly proud of being the grandfather to two United States Marines.

Mr. Sweeney is survived by his wife of thirty-four years, Carole Bramlett Sweeney of Tifton; three daughters and sons-in-law Diana and Earnest Gary of Northville, Michigan, Theresa and Johnny Greene of Tifton and Lisa Williams of Tifton; three sons and daughters-in-law Mathias and Heidi McGuire of Shelby Township, Michigan, Russell and Kim Clinton of Tifton and Mark and Carol Holloway of Tiger, Georgia; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters and brother-in-law Ina and Barry Gay of Tifton and Thelma Childers of Hillsdale, Michigan; one brother and sister-in-law James and Gladys Sweeney of Taylor, Michigan; many nieces and nephews.
