Wilton Norris Jones, Jr., known affectionately to many as "Wilt," passed away unexpectedly on May 15, 2026, in his hometown of Tifton, Georgia. Born on June 3, 1970, in Tifton, Wilt was a man whose life was marked by service, love, and an unwavering devotion to his family and faith.

A proud graduate of Tiftarea Academy, where he was honored as the most handsome senior in his class, Wilt furthered his education at ABAC before graduating from Wiregrass Tech as a skilled mechanic. His professional journey led him to serve as a civilian contractor for the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Navy for over fifteen years, working diligently as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic under the Department of Defense. His dedication and integrity in his career reflected his steadfast character.

Wilt’s personality was vibrant and full of warmth. He was known for his infectious laughter and genuine generosity. A man of great integrity, Wilt cherished being a Godly man, embracing his faith as a cornerstone of his life. Friends and family remember him as personable and selfless, qualities that made him a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.

Wilt loved spending time outdoors and at the farm, hunting and fishing, but his favorite time was spent with his children and grandchildren, especially sharing his favorite books with them.

Wilt’s life was a true testimony of finding peace in his Lord, a source of comfort and guidance throughout his days. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the lives he profoundly touched. He spent many hours seeking scriptural guidance from his Bible.

He is survived by his devoted wife of twenty-four years, Jessica Elaine Pitts Jones; his loving parents, Judy and Wilton Jones; and his children: Harlee Sumner and her husband Josh, Joplin Watson and her husband Tanner, and Carl Tomko and his wife Chesney, and his sister Dona Sumner and her husband Alex. Wilt also leaves behind a cherished extended family of grandchildren — Karissa, Payton, Eli, Christopher, Khyler, Grayson, Scarlett, Victoria, MaKinley, Madilyn, Maverick, Ariya, Hallie, Merrik, Kash, Bently, Octavia, and Raleigh — all of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life.

Wilt is preceded in death by his daughter, Ariel Pitts, and grandson, Jesse, whose memories he held dear.

His sudden departure leaves a profound void, yet his spirit of love, faith, and resilience remains a guiding light for all who had the privilege to know him. Wilt's life was one of honor and heartfelt devotion—an enduring tribute to a remarkable man who will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
