George Robert Fricks

Mr. George Robert Fricks, 97, of Tifton, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at his residence.

A private graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2020 in Oakridge Cemetery with Rev. Chip Grantham officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Fricks was born May 10, 1923 in Rome, Georgia to the late Claude Robert Fricks and Lottie B. Mathis Fricks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ivanelle Burke Fricks to whom he was married for sixty-four years at her death August 8, 2011, one sister, Marion Fricks Smith and one brother, William “Bill” Marvin Fricks. Mr. Fricks was a member of First United Methodist Church of Tifton and was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp serving during WWII. He was retired after forty-seven years with Celanese Corporation as Human Resource Director. Mr. Fricks had lived in Tifton since 1991 moving here from Charlotte, North Carolina. He had been active in his churches in Charlotte, North Carolina and Rome, Georgia. He served on the Administrative Board and the United Methodist Men’s Club where he served as president. He was an outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing especially quail hunting. Mr. George was a member of Springhill Country Club and loved to golf. He loved the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. Mr. George was devoted family man and cared for his wife closely in her declining years.

Mr. Fricks is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Tommy Seward of Tifton and Harriet and Vance Perry of Ocala, Florida; his grandchildren, Molly and Lee Huff, Blake Perry and Tom and Melissa Seward; his great grandchildren, Annalee Huff, Elizabeth Huff and Wyatt Perry.
