Roger Dale Womack, 71, of Tifton passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Chula, GA with Rev. Aaron Frazier and Rev. Larry Layfield officiating. Brother Fleming and Mr. Womack’s sons will deliver eulogies.

Due to Covid-19, all guests and attendees are requested to wear face masks and to maintain social distancing at all times.

Jason Womack, Justin Womack, John Womack, Trey Womack, Wes Walters, and Jake Walters will serve as pallbearers.

Born October 9, 1949, in Tifton, Georgia, Mr. Womack was the son of L.A. Womack, Sr. and Frances Griffin Womack and brother to L.A. Womack, Jr., all of whom preceded him in death. Mr. Womack was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He loved the Lord, his family, and his friends. Of all his many accomplishments, the ones he was most proud of were his faith, his family, playing football at the University of Alabama under Bear Bryant, coaching all three of his boys in high school football and most recently shooting under his age in golf. Mr. Womack was also affectionately known as “Dad” to three boys, “Pop” to nine grandchildren, “Uncle Rog” to his nieces and nephews”, “Coach” to many former football players, and “Whipplejack” to all his close friends.

Mr. Womack is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Lavonda Walters Womack of Tifton, three sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Erin Womack of Chula, Justin and Meghan Womack of Valdosta, and John and Meredith Womack of Brookhaven; sister-in-law, Diane Womack; brother-in-law, Wyndall and Rhonda Walters of Ocilla; nine grandchildren, Kate Marie Womack, Caroline Womack, Griffin Womack, Harrison Womack, Hank Womack, Beau Womack, Brooks Womack, Wilson Womack, and Becker Womack. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 293 Mt. Zion Church Road, Chula, GA 31733.
