Wesley "Hollis" Register

Mr. Wesley “Hollis” Register, 86, of Chula passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Corey Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 1:45 P.M. at the church before the service.

Chad Griffin, Zak Palmer, Steve Register, Arthur Perrin, Ken Williams, Felton Hayes and Mark Turner will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Register was born July 9, 1935 in Irwin County to the late William Franklin Register and Nellie Gentry Register. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Louise Fussell Register, his daughter, Cindy Register Sams, two brothers, O’Neal Register and Larry Register. He was a veteran of the United States Army and very proud of his service. Mr. Register was retired from Shaw Industries and was a farmer.  He enjoyed raising quail and hunting dogs, hunting, fishing and riding his ATV around his farm. He loved his family and was an excellent husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Mr. Hollis was a man of faith and as a member of Macedonia Baptist Church served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir. He had a heart for mission work and would not hesitate to tell others about the Lord and salvation. He was a graduate of Irwin County High School where he excelled in football and basketball. His fellow team mates called him “farm boy Register”.

Mr. Register is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Carroll Griffin of Tifton; his grandchildren, Chad and Lyndsae Griffin of Tifton and Dr. Cori Sams Palmer and Zak of Savannah; his great grandchildren Cayden Griffin, Hadley Griffin, Whitley Griffin, Davis Palmer and Graham Palmer; his sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Ken Williams of Arkansas and his sister-in-law, Imogene Register. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
